Zombies have always been characterized by their ability to destroy and consume. Mass media is rife with zombies that rise from the graves, possessing a hunger for living flesh and their single-minded pursuit to eat the living and destroy everything in their path.
For Zack Payton, though, life as a zombie is far, far different from that. After an accident in Amsterdam, the son of a billionaire, Zack, finds himself resurrected following a mysterious event known as “the resurrection apocalypse,” which spreads throughout the world almost overnight, resurrecting millions of people as undead, still rotting zombies.
Yet, he’s still human, deep down inside. What happened to cause the apocalypse? How do the millions of zombies live in a world where they’re essentially the same, but undead? Can they cope with their dead bodies and try to live in a world that doesn’t understand them? These are questions that Zack must face as he navigates through getting a job, meeting new friends, and trying to define his personhood in life after death. However, not all is well for him and the others who came back. Darker forces work in the shadows against them to bring about the zombies’ destruction, and it’s up to Zack and the people he’s befriended to figure out what’s going on and how to stop a second apocalyptic event from destroying the zombies.
